Influence of K2TiF6 in electrolyte on characteristics of the microarc oxidation coating on aluminum alloy

► Black MAO coating was prepared in a phosphate electrolyte with K2TiF6. ► The effects of K2TiF6 in the electrolyte on the characteristics of MAO coatings were investigated. ► The reactions of K2TiF6 preceding the titanium incorporation into the MAO coating were deduced.
