A new nanocomposite biomedical material of polymer/Clay–Cts–Ag nanocomposites

Nanocomposite technology is utilized to improve the antibacterial function of biomedical catheter materials. In this study, silver–chitosan, silver–chitosan/clay, and polymer/silver–chitosan/clay nanocomposites applied in indwelling biomedical catheter materials are synthesized and their bacteriostasis to Escherichia coli (ATCC 25922), Pseudomonas aeruginosa (ATCC27853), Staphylococcus aureus (ATCC25923), and Candida albicans (ATCC14053) is studied.
