Size-induced ferromagnetism and metallicity in Nd0.5Sr0.5MnO3 nanoparticles: A neutron diffraction study

▸ Ferromagnetic metallic state (FMM) is found in nano-sized Nd0.5Sr0.5MnO3 (∼40 nm). ▸ FMM is confirmed from detailed neutron diffraction, magnetic and transport studies. ▸ Surface pressure is found to be insufficient to explain the effects. ▸ Role of enhanced surface disorder and strain modification have been discussed.
