Electrochemical destruction of organic substances in deionized water using diamond anodes and a solid polymer electrolyte

An organic model substance (benzyl alcohol) was dissolved in deionized water which was than electrolyzed by use of a simple SPE sandwich with diamond anode, Nafion® polymer electrolyte and diamond cathode. An efficient destruction of the organic material could be measured.
