Pacer cell response to periodic Zeitgebers

► We study a model of the mammalian biological clock with an external Zeitgeber. ► Our main question is how this clock is able to synchronize with the Zeitgeber. ► The heart of the mathematical model consists of a circle map. ► We find synchronization depending on parameters in the model. ► We link the parameters to biologically observable quantities.
