Design, synthesis and evaluation of novel 16-imidazolyl substituted steroidal derivatives possessing potent diversified pharmacological properties

► 16-Imidazolyl substituted steroidal derivatives have been synthesized and studied. ► The compounds 6 and 7 exhibited aromatase inhibition better than exemestane. ► The bis-quaternary steroids 13 and 14 displayed potent NMJ blocking activity. ► Compound 13 displayed high anticholinesterase activity with Ki = 25 nM.
