Le service médical rendu en radiothérapie : indice thérapeutique et information du patient

RésuméEn cancérologie, l’équilibre entre guérison et morbidité, appelé indice ou ratio thérapeutique, est au cœur de la décision multidisciplinaire de traitement. Chaque radiothérapie nécessite d’optimiser au mieux ce rapport bénéfice–risque définissant le service médical rendu. Afin de ramener une connaissance collective (médecine basée sur les preuves/évidences) à une décision à l’échelle individuelle, le principe d’information du patient devra toujours être respecté. C’est au patient, accompagné et éclairé dans son choix par son médecin référent, de prendre les décisions concernant sa santé.

In oncology, the ratio between cure and morbidity (therapeutic index) is at the heart of treatment. Every radiotherapy needs to optimize the benefice–risk issue defining the optimal medical care. In order to go from global knowledge (evidence-based medecine) to individualized decision, the principle of patients’ information will have always to be respected. In fine, it will be the patient, guided by his/her physician, to take decision on treatment.
