κ-opioids induce a reversible inhibition of CFU-GM from CD133+ cord blood cells

Results and discussion Our results suggest that opioids can induce a significant inhibition of CFU-GM growth, which is reversible and not mediated through opioid or somatostatin receptors, while apoptosis is not implicated. Whether this finding could be used for clinical intervention remains to be examined.
