Sulfurovum lithotrophicum 42BKTT is known to facilitate the fixation of CO2 at CO2 pressures as high as 2 atm. Here, we used a cell immobilization strategy to enable its continuous culture. Cells were immobilized in polyurethane foams via adsorption. The fractions of the medium exchange were 20, 30, 50, and 100%. At all tested medium exchange fractions, continuous culture was feasible. The largest increase in the cell density was achieved at the 50% medium exchange. Therefore, the immobilization of S. lithotrophicum is likely to enable the stable and continuous fixation of CO2 at high CO2 pressure.
