Viscous flow through a bed of settled aggregates: Evolution of tubes void of particles

Analytical and numerical calculations are performed to show how particles are emerged from locations on the upper surface of a bed of settled flocculated aggregats as a volcano process. Hollow tubes are created in the bed while the particles deposit around them, though the bed remains basically stable.
