Update on the pathogenesis of rheumatoid arthritis

Inflammatory joint diseases are complex, but considerable advances have been made in the understanding of the pathophysiology of diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis. This has led to considerable improvements in therapy and an improvement in long-term outcome for patients with inflammatory joint disease. Other rheumatic diseases such as psoriatic arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis and juvenile idiopathic arthritis have also been the subject of advances in therapy.
