Environmental chemicals influence brain function and psychosomatic problems

Perinatal exposure to environmental endocrine disrupters (EEDs) impaired sexual differentiation of exploratory behavior and avoidance learning and increased depressive behavior in males. Sexual differentiation of the locus coeruleus was also impaired by EEDs. In contrast, plant-derived chemicals reduced fatigue and stress responses through affecting the limbic system and hypothalamus. Brain functions and psychosomatic condition are under the influence of environmental chemicals.
