Prise en charge diagnostique et thérapeutique de l'hypertension artérielle pulmonaire

Pulmonary hypertension is a rare disease related to increased resistance in the pulmonary vascular bed. The disease leads spontaneously to right heart failure and death. A pathophysiological classification taking into account possible causal factors is available. Diagnosis rests on right heart catheterisation when clinical and paraclinical data suggest the diagnosis. To date, guidelines are available for severe forms of the disease. ICU management may be required for right heart failure. Despite the lack of consensus, management of patients with pulmonary hypertension resembles to this of patients with severe pulmonary embolism with right heart failure and the need for inotropic support.
