La protéine des cellules de Clara (CC-16)Â : un nouveau marqueur pour le SDRAÂ ?

High mortality is still associated with the acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS). Several biomarkers of clinical outcomes have been already described in patients with ARDS and markers of protein leakage, such as, lung epithelium-specific small proteins (called “pneumoproteins”) were gaining interest in recent years. The Clara cell protein (CC-16) is one of these lung specific proteins and its secretion, elimination and anti-inflammatory activity are now better known and defined. CC-16 looks as a good prognostic marker of mortality and organ dysfunction in patients with ARDS. This article is a synopsis of current clinical and scientific knowledge on this topic.
