Multiple Radiological Interventions for Patients with Hepatocellular Carcinoma: A Case Study

Hepatocellular carcinoma is a primary malignancy of the liver. Nurses working in the interventional radiology department often come across patients with hepatocellular carcinoma since several different radiologic interventions are used to treat this disease. The radiology nurse should be aware of the disease risk factors, types of treatment options, and complications of the various treatments. Radiofrequency ablation, chemoembolization, and Yttrium-90 radiation therapy are three possible therapies used in the interventional radiology suite for HCC. These radiologic treatments are discussed in this case study.
