Development and Implementation of a Professional Practice Model

This paper describes the development and implementation of a professional practice model for the nursing department at a Magnet® hospital that is within an academic medical center. The professional practice model (PPM) that was developed is a relationship-centered care (RCC) model that was tailored to the institution and its programs and constituents. Key components of Koloroutis' (2004) relationship-based care (RBC) model and Fetzer Institute RCC model (2005) were integrated into the PPM, and a new RCC model was developed.
