Zespół Polanda u 12-letniej dziewczynki - opis przypadku

Poland syndrome is characterized by unilateral aplasia of the pectoralis major muscle and anomalies of the homolateral upper limb. It is usually accompanied by the absence of a nipple, aplasia or hypoplasia of the breast. Other associated anomalies include renal defects, as well as neoplasma. We report a case of a 12-year-old girl with partial Poland syndrome presenting as absence of the left pectoralis muscle, homolateral nipple hypoplasia, breast aplasia without upper limb defects. The muscle defect that occurs in this syndrome renders no serious clinical significance to the patient requiring only regular physical exercises that strengthen the muscles of the shoulder girdle. However, in case of aplasia of the breast reconstructive surgery is indicated after the patient achieves maturity.
