Nowadays, the inflammation theory gains growing recognition. It combines the infections in the mother with the inflammatory response in the fetus that causes nervous system damage and, in consequence, leads to cerebral palsy. The aim of the present paper is to collect and systematize the literature data on etiology and pathophysiological mechanisms leading to the development of cerebral palsy.
