Napadowa zimna hemoglobinuria - niedoceniana przyczyna niedokrwistości hemolitycznej u dzieci

Paroxysmal cold hemoglobinuria is a rare autoimmune hemolytic anemia. It presents both hemolysis and hemoglobinuria after exposure to cold due to the biphasic hemolysin known as the Donath-Landsteiner antibody. We present 6 cases of children in whom, after clinical and serological investigation, we established the diagnosis of paroxysmal cold hemoglobinuria. After treatment with red blood cell transfusion and steroids the good clinical result was achieved. In this article we would like to pay attention to the necessity of avoiding cold in patients with autoimmune hemolytic anemia until the exclusion of cold hemolysins.
