Choroby wywoływane przez meningokoki w Polsce - charakterystyka i opis przypadków klinicznych

Meningococcal (Neisseria meningitides) invasive infection presents as fulminant sepsis and purulent meningitis. The most important prerequisite of the disease is colonization of the oropharynx by pathogenic bacteria. Strains isolated in Poland belong to serogroups B, C or - less often W-135. Three hundred-ninety two cases of invasive meningococcemia were noted in Poland in 2007. Typical course of the disease and two clinical cases were presented in this paper.
