Our paper presents basic informations about physiology of malnutrition, methods of assessment, nutritional needs, enteral and parenteral feeding. Also some problems of enteral and parenteral feeding at home, methods of metabolic disorders balancing and vascular catheters control were discussed. The most frequent metabolic complications of nutritional treatment were discussed (refeeding syndrome, overfeeding, intrahepatic cholesthasis, steatosis, bone metabolic disorders.
