LPN to RN: A win–win situation for nursing education

The focus of associate degree nursing education is to meet the needs of the community by providing high-quality education and health care. In response, one community college developed two innovative ways to assist working LPNs to advance to the role of the RN. Success has been demonstrated, with more than 90% of the graduating nurses passing National Council Licensure Examination-Registered Nurse on the first attempt. These models could be easily implemented in other associate degree nursing programs across the country.
