Resuscitation of the newborn

Most newborn babies do not require resuscitation or stabilization. The small proportion who do require help are usually managed by trained and experienced healthcare providers within a delivery unit setting. Some babies are born outside the labour ward and some of these may require help from less experienced individuals. Good quality early assessment and intervention is vital to ensure the best outcome. This article provides a brief overview of resuscitation of the newborn.
