Interleukin-6 and matrix metalloproteinase expression in the subretinal fluid during proliferative vitreoretinopathy: Correlation with extent, duration of RRD and PVR grade

► SRF IL-6 levels were significantly higher in patients with RRD complicated with PVR. ► There was a significant correlation between IL-6 and TIMP-1 levels in the SRF. ► IL-6 is involved in the modulation of MMP expression in such cases.
