Open Window Thoracostomy Treatment of Empyema Is Accelerated by Vacuum-Assisted Closure

When compared with conventional management of OWT, VAC therapy accelerates wound healing and improves reexpansion of residual lung tissue in patients with OWT after empyema, allowing rapid surgical closure.
