Predicting comatose patients with acute stroke outcome using middle-latency somatosensory evoked potentials

► Using the middle-latency somatosensory evoked potential (MLSEP) predicts the poor outcome of comatose patients with acute severe supratentorial stroke. ► The MLSEP is relatively a new neurophysiological technique used at bedside to evaluate the cerebral function in comatose patients. ► The combination of MLSEP and short-latency somatosensory evoked potential (SLSEP) increases the sensitivity and maintains the high specificity for predicting outcome in coma after severe stroke.
