This paper presents a periodic concept in stiffened-thin-plates by applying Bloch׳s theorem. Through the established dynamic equation for periodically stiffened-thin-plate (PSTP), the band gap of PSTP is calculated with the help of center-finite-difference-method (CFDM). CFDM simplifies the calculation in plate vibration differential equation. Instead of dealing with complex high-level differential equation, CFDM solves only algebraic equation. In this paper, the band gap׳s frequency property of PSTP has also been analyzed. The parameters of structure that influence the band gap׳s frequency have been fully discussed as well. Finally, the theory presented in this paper is verified by numerical simulations and the results reveal that there is consistency between two methods.
