Hellp Syndrome-Revisited

HELLP syndrome is a life threating obstetric complication with increased maternal and fetal morbidity and mortality. It is usually considered a variant of pre-eclampsia. The complex pathophysiology of the HELLP syndrome is not well understood. The Tennesse and Mississippi classification are well suited for comparisons. Whereas delivery is the mainstay of treatment, corticosteroid treatment is a possible addendum. Evaluation of standard corticosteroid treatment versus high dose dexamethasone treatment is needed.
