Maurice Dérot (1901-1985), fondateur de l'école de diabétologie de l'Hôtel-Dieu de Paris

Prof essor Maurice Dérot (1901-1985) created, in the Iast 1950s, the Diabetoiogy Department at the Hôtel-Dieu Hospital, in Paris (France), and premonitory named it « Chaire médico-sociale du diabète sucré et des maladies métaboliques ». During a décade, this department had a dual high level activity in nephrology and in diabetoiogy. Georges Tchobroutsky, in the early 1970s, reformed it as a modem department exdusiveiy devoted to diabètes, a department which survived until the Iast few years at the same location. The Hôtel-Dieu Diabetoiogy Schooi has spread across the entire France, and has organized for a half-century the renowned « Journées Annuelles de Diabétologie de l'Hôtel-Dieu de Paris ». Maurice Dérot was a founder, as very early he was able to s'entourer from the mostpromising talents, and not necessarily those the easier to manage. He passed away in 1985, highly loved by his disciples.
