Accès à l'insuline dans les pays en voie de développement : une problématique complexe

Before the discovery of insulin life expectancy for a child with this condition was extremely low. This situation changed in 1922 with the first person, a Canadian child, receiving the first insulin injection. Despite this event being a turning point for diabetes management, the situation in developing countries remains the same in 2014 as in 1922 as access ton insulin is still problematic. The problems have been identified through the work of two NGOs shows that these barriers are due to availability and affordability. These challenges are present at both international and national levels. Experience with HIV/AIDS and in some countries with diabetes shows that solutions can be found.
