Jacques Mirouze (1921-1991) : le néphrologue pionnier de la dialyse, le diabétologue novateur audacieux, le grand universitaire

Jacques Mirouze has seen three successive lifes, the one as pioneer nephrologist for dialyses, then as bold innovatory diabetologist and, finally, as eminent university person. His unshakeable faith in medical technical progress being in the service of humans and diseases and his creative intellectual curiosity pushed himself to be a main actor for developing artificial kidney and, 20 years later, artificial beta-cell, continuous insulin therapy using portable or implantable pumps in type 1 diabetics. As international prizewinner he was especially distinguished by the Claude Bernard Prize. Dean, President for the French National Conference of University Presidents, he exercised the highest responsibilities at University.
