Measurement of blood glucose is a major step in the management of diabetes, especially for type 1 patients. Currently, an unique device could determine capillary blood ketone also. Less than 5% error in accuracy of results is acceptable. In practice, education is designed to reduce user errors: importance of washing hands, strips errors. Creams, including those containing corticosteroids whose use is sometimes denied (skin lightening creams for black people), may induce errors. We report a very high level of capillary blood ketone due to the application of such cream.
