This review focus on recent experimental and clinical data related to trans fatty acids, leading to consider some of them as interesting bioactive molecules particularly regarding cardiovascular diseases and cancerogenesis. These data provide a new momentum for industrial applications related to their positive effects on health. In this review, we will focus on several emerging beneficial aspects of natural trans fatty acids that have distinct and sometimes opposite properties compared to trans found in partially hydrogenated oils. So, after being advanced for their deleterious effects on health, trans fatty acids - or more exactly some of them - are now enlightened for their beneficial effects.
