Radiation-induced cholangitis with hepatocellular carcinoma

SummaryThere are no reports of hepatocellular carcinoma complicating postradiotherapy cholangitis. We report the case of a 45-year-old patient who had undergone upper abdominal radiotherapy for Hodgkin's disease, 21 years before, which was complicated years later by cholangitis with stricture of the common bile duct. Biliodigestive anastomosic surgery was scheduled due to recurrent angiocholitis, and hepatocellular carcinoma was discovered. The patient died from carcinoma some months later.

RésuméIl n’a pas été décrit dans la littérature, de cas de carcinome hépatocellulaire compliquant une cholangite postradique. Nous rapportons ici le cas d’un homme de 45 ans ayant bénéficié d’une radiothérapie pour maladie de Hodgkin, 21 ans auparavant. Cette radiothérapie a été compliquée, après une longue évolution, d’une cholangite postradique avec sténose de la voie biliaire principale. La survenue d’angiocholites récurrentes nous a conduit à pratiquer une anastomose biliodigestive au cours de laquelle un carcinome hépatocellulaire a été découvert. Le patient est décédé quelques mois plus tard.
