Hemangioendotelioma epitelióide hepático: um caso de rápida progressão

ResumoO hemangioendotelioma epitelióide hepático (HEH) é um tumor vascular maligno raro, cujo potencial maligno é incerto. Os sinais e sintomas associados são mormente inespecíficos e a sua identificação é incidental. A heterogeneidade destes tumores nos métodos imagiológicos dificulta o seu diagnóstico e este só é estabelecido definitivamente pelo estudo anátomo-patológico. A estratégia terapêutica não está uniformizada e é, por vezes, controversa. Os autores apresentam um caso de um doente do sexo masculino, na quinta década de vida, com o diagnóstico de HEH, já com metastização pulmonar e óssea, cuja rápida deterioração clínica culminou no seu óbito, num período de tempo inferior a 2 meses.

Hepatic Epithelioid Hemangioendothelioma (HEH) is a malignant vascular tumor, however its aggressive behavior is variable. Its signs and symptoms are not specific and its identification is incidental. The heterogeneity in the imagiologic exams difficult its diagnosis and this is only established in the histological examination. Its treatment is not standardized and is sometimes controversial. The authors present the clinical case of a male patient in the fifth decade of life, with the diagnosis of HEH with pulmonary and bone metastasis, with a rapid clinical deterioration that determined his death in a period of time inferior to 2 months.
