Prevalence of Helicobacter pylori infection in bariatric patients: a histologic assessment

Increasing BMI is not an independent risk factor for active HP infection within the morbidly obese patient population. Need for invasive testing to detect HP infection in these patients should be re-evaluated. Other methods of detecting active HP infection should be considered as an alternative to invasive or serologic testing.
