Allergie au chien et au cheval

Dogs and horses are part of the familiar environment of atopics. Dog allergens are present in most all homes, even those without a dog. Furthermore, it is not uncommon to have indirect contact with horse allergens on contaminated clothes. Skin tests to dog and horse should be part of the standard battery of aeroallergens. Precise identification of dog and horse allergens is progressing, as is knowledge of cross-reactivity between their different allergenic protein families. However, even if currently available recombinant allergens may improve diagnosis, in many clinical situations there are still too few of them to distinguish between multiple sensitizations and cross-reactivity to these domesticated animals.
