Las bases de datos bibliográficas españolas, un instrumento para el conocimiento y la difusión de la producción científica

Bibliographic databases have become increasingly widely used in the Internet age and are currently an essential tool for awareness and dissemination of scientific production. Major databases In the Spanish environment of health sciences are the Spanish Medical Index (Indice Medico Español [IME]), the Spanish Bibliographic Index in Health Sciences (Indice Bibliográfico Español en Ciencias de la salud [IBECS]) and MEDES (Medicine in Spanish) . CUIDEN, specialized in nursing, and new resources such as the harvester collector, RECOLECTA, should also be included. This article describes the main characteristics of all these resources and compares their coverage and functionalities.
