BackgroundThis study aimed to evaluate the association between complications and clinical parameters with obesity in 273 women who have undergone abdominal myomectomy during the study period.MethodsThe patients were classified into two groups according to body mass index (BMI) (≤30 kg/m2 and >30 kg/m2). Demographic, preoperative and postoperative clinical parameters were evaluated.ResultsDemographic, preoperative and postoperative clinical parameters were evaluated. The results showed statistically significant differences between the obese and non-obese groups in terms of age, gravidity, diameter of fibroid (DOF), postoperative hemoglobin, duration of hospital stay, and complications. Patients in the obese group had greater DOF and complications such as hemorrhage, postoperative fever, wound infection and ileus (p < 0.05).ConclusionBased on our results, we conclude that obesity adversely affects the clinical outcomes of patients who undergo abdominal myomectomy.
