Protocolo terapéutico de las formas progresivas primarias y secundarias de la esclerosis múltiple

Multiple sclerosis is an autoimmune inflammatory disorder with a more effective therapeutic range for the inflammatory phase; but, for the progressive phase, although scarce treatments are available, the control is poor. According with trials performed, the use of drugs is not recommended for primary progressive MS (PPMS), with the exception of patients with clinical evidence of outbreaks or magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) activity, individually assessable. In the event of outbreak, beta interferon 1a and 1b are indicated for secondary progressive MS (SPMS) reducing relapse rates. Mitoxantrone are also indicated for the treatment of outbreaks in SPMS, however its use is highly limited due to its risks. Patients with MRI activity without outbreaks can be individualized.
