Protocolo diagnóstico y terapéutico del síndrome febril agudo con leucocitosis

The goal in emergency department is to detect potentially serious diseases and begin immediately the treatment. Leukocytosis guides to an infectious etiology. We shall not forget other less common causes which may course with fever (inflammatory processes, collagenous disease, burns, solid and hematological malignancies, drugs such as glucocorticoids, some viral infections, alcoholic hepatitis….). The following approach assumes the absence of immunosuppressive causes.
