Actualización en el tratamiento de la artritis reumatoide

ResumenLa artritis reumatoide (AR) es una enfermedad inflamatoria crónica que afecta al 0,5–1% de la población mundial. La comprensión cada vez mayor de su patogénesis ha permitido desarrollar nuevas terapias que actúan sobre moléculas concretas, modificando el desarrollo y la progresión de la enfermedad. Estos fármacos se añaden al arsenal terapéutico que ya existía para poder conseguir el objetivo principal del tratamiento en la artritis reumatoide que es la inducción y el mantenimiento de su remisión. En esta actualización se revisarán los fármacos modificadores de la enfermedad (FAME) de síntesis química y de producción biotecnológica (biológicos), con sus principales indicaciones, contraindicaciones, dosis, vía de administración y principales efectos adversos. También se describirán los tratamientos que se encuentran actualmente en desarrollo y de forma breve se comentarán las estrategias terapéuticas posibles.
