FDG-PET and PET/CT in Colorectal Cancer

This article reviews the current use of FDG PET/CT for assessment of colorectal cancer. Initial diagnosis and staging are covered, as well as detection and staging of tumor recurrence. The current place of FDG PET/CT is discussed in light of recently published studies. Besides the well-established use of PET for detecting and staging colorectal cancer relapse, potential new indications, such as initial pretherapeutic staging, as well as risk stratification are discussed.
