Esofagitis eosinofílica en el diagnóstico de pirosis

Eosinophilic oesophagitis is a rare entity, more common in children, and characterised by the infiltration of the oesophageal mucosa by multiple eosinophilic leukocytes. Its most common clinical symptoms are dysphagia, food impaction and heartburn. The endoscopic appearance varies from an almost normal mucosa to the appearance of rings or oesophageal stricture. The final diagnosis is by histopathology and the current treatment is based on the use of topical corticosteroids. The case is presented of a 17 year-old with symptoms of dysphagia and heartburn. The disease was diagnosed after endoscopy, with a good clinical outcome after corticosteroid treatment.
