Surgical complications of paralysis

Paralysed patients suffer from a range of medical problems affecting every system. We look at the surgical needs of these highly complex patients and highlight the medical and surgical managements that are appropriate in this setting. We take a systematic approach to categorise the main considerations and operative interventions possible. A synopsis for each operation is outlined with associated diagrams for conceptual clarity.
