This article aims to give readers an overview of the steps required in the management of bone and soft-tissue sarcomas. The principles discussed are of diagnosis, staging and treatment. It is essential to remember that sarcomas are rare and the management should ultimately be performed in dedicated regional centres. However a sound understanding of this management enables prompt and accurate referral to an appropriate centre.
