Oesophageal atresia

Oesophageal atresia is a congenital abnormality in which a variable portion of the mid-oesophagus is not formed. This is usually associated with a distal tracheo-oesophageal fistula. Important associated structural anomalies include heart defects, duodenal atresia, anorectal malformations. The anatomy, diagnosis and management of this condition are described.
