Anticoagulation

Anticoagulation prevents pathological clot formation (e.g. on heart valves or chambers) and stops propagation and embolization of clots already developed in veins. The type, intensity and duration of anticoagulation depend on the indication. The two main anticoagulant drugs are heparin and warfarin.
