Hepatic Neoplasms: Features on Grayscale and Contrast Enhanced Ultrasound

Liver masses may be incidentally detected on sonography or they may be seen on surveillance scans in high-risk or symptomatic patients. Once identified, it is necessary to determine which masses are significant (requiring confirmation of their diagnosis) and which masses are likely to be insignificant and benign, not requiring further evaluation to confirm their nature. This article describes the sonographic and contrast-enhanced ultrasound features of commonly encountered benign and malignant lesions seen in the liver.
