Invasive cancer of the cervix

Worldwide, invasive cervical cancer is the second most common malignancy affecting women. This review considers the epidemiology of cervical cancer and the basic pathological features, followed by its management, including diagnosis, staging and treatment options for each stage. Surgical techniques including newer procedures such as radical trachelectomy are briefly outlined, as well as potential complications. Management of recurrent disease and cervical cancer occurring during pregnancy is discussed, and finally areas of research interest are highlighted.
